Homework Happenings:November 17-21 MondaySpelling TuesdayMath WednesdayRead for 30 minutes/LA Sheet ThursdayTeacher Choice Why do we do homework:Homework is an essential tool when it comes to learning. It allows for students to revisit and refresh what they have been learning in class over the past few weeks. If an assignment is handed out and your child struggles with it, please write a quick little note on it and have your child turn it in to me directly! When I see that they need help I do not grade them down for incomplete work. Homework is an assigned assignment that will come home Monday thru Thursday and it is in addition to any assignment that a student has not finished during the day! Late Work Policy:Homework is expected to be returned the next day. Each student has a folder that is designed especially to bring work home in and it also will have their planners in it that you will need to sign Monday thru Thursday indicating that your child has all of their homework completed. (Unless the student is absent.) If it is not completed I do have a policy of keeping students in at lunch recess so that they can finish it. Points will also be deducted from students turning in late work. Please note that this policy is for any assignment that we do inside or outside of school. (ie: Spelling Contracts are due on Friday's, if they come in Monday they stay in for part of their recess and they lose 5 pts. from the assignment.) Study Guides:Study guides will be provided for all Science and Social Studies test. These study guides will be done in class, corrected and sent home for students to study. We start study guides a week prior to the test so that they have plenty of time to prepare for it! Absences:If a student is absent as much work as possible will be posted on this page and it will allow student the opportunity to print out some of their work ahead of time so that they can work on it. Not everything will be able to be done this way, but if they can get even one or two small things done it will help them from feeling overwhelmed the next day. (Please feel free to call and leave a message for me asking if there is anything that I can post, or to call and let you know if there is something on there that the students might need.) Signing Planners:We believe that planners are a key ingredient to helping your child be successful at school. Along with helpful tips (such as conversion charts, multiplication table, and grammar help) these planners serve as a daily reminder of what we worked on in class. For my students the expectation is that planners are getting signed every night. Please make sure that you are seeing your child's planner, signing it, and asking them what they have been doing in school!
