We are starting off October with classification of invertebrate animals.  Having completed how a scientist classifies vertebrates.  Our students have studied vertebrate animals in the lower grades, so as a class we started with something familiar and move to something new. Our student have vertebrates to invertebrates.  The students know all five phylum of vertebrate animals and will be learning the characteristics of the eight phylum of invertebrate animals.  During the marking period, each student will be assigned an invertebrate animal to research and then write a report.  The report will be due the second week of December.  For the research students will be doing quite a lot of work in the BELL and on the computer.   Some of the reports will be posted on our class website sometime in January.
