Algebra 2 Syllabus Rules and Expectations: Classroom Rules:#1– Be prepared before the bell rings and stay on task the whole class period. #2– Students will be able to learn in a safe and welcoming environment. #3– Students will have respect for themselves, the teacher, other students, and the property in the classroom. |
Materials:
· 3-ring binder with paper, or notebook and folder
· Scientific calculator- - preferably a Texas Instruments TI-30XIIS (~$15) · PENCILS
· Book cover or brown paper bag
Units to be covered:
· The Michigan Department of Education has provided High School Content Expectations (HSCE) for Algebra 2. All these HSCEs will be addressed throughout the course.
· Textbook/curriculum to be used: McDougal-Littell Michigan Version Algebra 2
· We must move at a steady pace in order to cover all of the expectations. It will be imperative that you come in for extra help if you find yourself struggling. Grading:· The Blissfield High School grading scale will be used.· Grades will be weighted- 60% tests, 20% homework/quizzes, 20% cumulative review· Students who score less than 60% on a test will be required to remediate and retest; students will only be able to score a 60% on the retest. Other important information: - School rule: NO food or drink in the classroom
- School rule: NO electronic devices (cell phones, ipods, mp3’s, cameras, etc.)
- Restroom- 1 pass per nine weeks
- Problem of the Week- 2 points extra credit every week
- VIP- WORK TIME!
- Cheating = 0; Copying someone else’s homework is considered cheating
- Exams- cumulative midterm and final worth 20% of semester grade
- Tardies and Absences- I follow the school’s tardy and absence policy.
- PENCILS ARE A MUST!
- Homework- expect it on a daily basis- you learn math by doing math
- ALWAYS SHOW ALL WORK, or you will be given no credit until it has been done completely
- I am willing to coming in before and after school, as well as VIP for extra help; however, I do not know you need help if you don’t ask…
- It is important to learn how to communicate mathematically, therefore you will be doing some writing as a part of this class
