KINDERGARTEN COMMUNICATIONWeek of February 13th – 17th, 2012 Language Arts - We will be reading the story ‘Shoes Like Miss Alice’. We will talk about babysitters and what we like to do with them. We will also read some 100 day stories and Valentines Day stories as well.
Math - In math, we will work with shapes, geoboards, and ordinal positions. We will look at 100 things for our 100th day celebration.
Handwriting - We will look at proper formation and phonics of the letter Ww.
Science - We will continue to look at living and non-living things. We will journal our seed and stone and watch for changes in each. We will re-visit our hypothesis about them and decide if we made the right one.
Social Studies - Student of the week is still going on as well as show and tell. Monday for girls and Thursday for boys. Bring in something that begins with a Ww. We will continue to look at things from the past and the present.
Extra Information - We have a busy week – Monday is 100th day and our celebration! Please remember to send in with your child their 100 collection. We will have a special snack that day. Tuesday is Valentine’s Day. Please remember to send in your child’s valentines so they can pass them out. They DO NOT need a valentine holder – we have large bags for them to use. Also, if you are providing something for our ice cream sundaes, send that in as well.
- Wednesday is Wacky Wednesday in honor of the letter Ww. Attached is a note about it. I look forward to seeing all my wacky friends that day!
- Next week we will be doing the letter Jj – in honor of Jj, we will wear jeans and jewelry on that Friday.
- Reminder that we do not have school on Monday, February 20th for a professional development day for teachers.
