MRS. WHITE'S CLASS NEWSThe week of February 6-10, 2011 This week, we will: - Practice identifying realism and fantasy in the stories "The Red Stone Game/The Gingerbread Man", in our reading anthologies, for Language Arts
- Read and compare several different versions of "The Gingerbread Man/Boy/Baby" story
- Practice phonemic awareness with long a (CVCe) words and inflected ending _ed, in Language Arts
- Continue practicing reading and spelling the HF words: call, something, after, as, laugh
- Practice our spelling words from spelling list #13
- Read one leveled reader, called "Counting to 100", to add to our book boxes
- Read two new poems and add them to our poetry notebooks
- Read and sing the February poem
- Read alone with our book boxes
- Learn about the writing trait organization, and write stories with beginnings, middles, and endings
- Continue Unit 2 in social studies, talking about where we live, our Earth and the people on it
- Practice the doubles plus one facts; add two-digit numbers with out regrouping; and identify how many more on a graph- in math
- Celebrate our 100th day of school on Friday and do some fun activities
- Take spelling test #13, math test #16, fact test #11, and the language arts vocab/comprehension test on Friday
- Do many more fun and educational activities through out the week

WHAT'S NEW? / REMINDERS:
- Our class is in desperate need of glue sticks! If you are able to donate one or more washable glue sticks for our classroom use, we would really appreciate it.
- Please check with your child to see if they are in need of glue sticks or any other supplies at this time of the year. Supplies from the beginning of the school year are running out!
- February 20 - No School; Teacher In-Service; President's Day
