"Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent." -- Victor Hugo

Members of the Blissfield High School Ladies' Ensemble perform two- and three- part music throughout the school year at various school and community events. The goal of this year-long course is to help students become proficient vocal musicians.  Students learn many musical concepts including:

  • Sightreading: reading musical notation at first sight,

  • Theory: musical terminology, harmonic progression, and other musical concepts important to becoming a proficient singer, and

  • Vocal Musicianship: students learn to sing independently and with others using appropriate posture, accurate pitch, and proper singing technique.

"I have my own particular sorrows, loves, delights; and you have yours.  But sorrow, gladness, yearning, hope, love, belong to all of us, in all times and in all places.  Music is the only means whereby we feel these emotions in their universality."  --  H.A. Overstreet
