Welcome to Blissfield Elementary School! As you view our website, I’m sure you will see how our school, teaching staff, and activities directly reflect our school mission statement: “Blissfield Elementary School is committed to providing a safe, respectful and supportive teaching and learning environment where students are inspired to become academically successful and socially responsible.” 2010-2011 was such a successful school year and I am proud to present the following Points of Pride: Education Yes! School Report Card “A” (four “A’s” in a row and five in the past six years); Completion of both a K-5 social studies and K-12 science curriculum review; new materials for both programs have been purchased for the 2010-2011 school year (including many technology enhancements); Active involvement at all grade levels in service learning projects (Make A Difference Day, Blissfield Downtown Planting Project, Veteran’s Day Programs, Lenawee County Mission Box City Project, artwork for gallery and store windows, visits to Assisted Living and Memory Care Facilities, etc.); - Commitment to the school-community partnership (PTO, Lunch Buddies, involvement of law enforcement and fire department with Red Ribbon Week, Fire Prevention Week, and Anti-Bullying programming, Royal Savers Banking Program, gifts of smoke detectors, dictionaries, and classroom presentations from service organizations and local businesses, thousands of dollars awarded from our Blissfield Foundation for Educational Excellence, support from the Lenawee Youth Council for our After School Assets Program, an amazing commitment by parents and community members to assist as volunteers whenever the need arises, etc.).
Innovative approaches to teaching and learning (Wax Museum, Victorsville, Grandparent’s Day, Blissfield Environmental Life Lab, Camp Storer Outdoor Education, Summer Cool School, Reading Buddies/PenPals, Transition Visit/6th Grade Orientation, Ag Day, etc.). I invite you to stop by and visit our school. If your children currently attend, we urge you to become actively involved in the school-parent-student partnership that we believe so strongly in. If you are looking at Blissfield Elementary School for the first time, I would love to have you meet our teachers and students and have them show you all we have to offer. We hope you not only consider us as your “school of choice,” but also consider Blissfield as your “community of choice.” It is a great place to live! Sincerely,Dee Crane, Principal
